Sustainable Living Laboratory

This is the Research and Development of Syrinx. The Primary Sustainable Living Laboratory (Syrinx SLL) is locate in probably the most stable climate on the planet in Hawaii. Many of the images you see on the other pages consist of elements of Syrinx SLL.

The vision of the Sustainable Living Laboratory is to identify the universal core framework of practical urban agriculture. The idea is to design and build a healthy living space at an adjustible scale that is workable for the individual, family, or community using it.  The program requirements calls for a climate controlled environment affording continuous year round gardening designed to produce 100% of the nutritional preferences of an individual or group using it. The aim is to bring locally grown fresh produce to the environmental extremes such as high altitude, desert, or even polar regions. The principle being that when the core framework operationally tests in these extremes then it could be implemented everywhere. These food production systems will  operate in a closed loop to capture waste streams and turn then back into nutriants.  Water conservation techniques will be followed making these systems capable of water harvesting, conserving, and filtering for recycle. They will be powered by renewable energy sources and designed following proven principles of integrated design such as USGBC guidelines.  â€‹
